Whether a person eats a vegetarian or non-vegetarian diet, Indians are masters of rich flavours and diverse spices that can maximise the flavour of any vegetable or ingredient.

Colombian dish Lechona held the top slot.

India is home to a wide variety of finger-licking meals, including aromatic rice and curries, that have long captivated taste buds worldwide. Whether a person eats a vegetarian or non-vegetarian diet, Indians are masters of rich flavours and diverse spices that can maximise the flavour of any vegetable or ingredient. Its diverse regional cuisines, each with its unique blend of spices and cooking techniques, have earned a special place in the hearts of food lovers. Now, these delectable dishes have made their mark on the global culinary scene. Taste Atlas has recently rolled out the list of the 100 Best Dishes in the World, and four iconic Indian dishes are listed among them.

Murgh Makhani ranked 29th in the 100 Best Dishes in the World list, followed by Hyderabadi Biryani at 31st, and Chicken 65 and Keema at the 97th and 100th spots, respectively.

Murgh Makhani: Also referred to as butter chicken, this lip-smacking dish is made of roasted meat, plenty of spices, and a rich gravy of cream, tomatoes, and butter. It is garnished with butter, coriander, or green chillis and usually savoured with naan (a type of Indian bread).

Hyderabadi biryani: Comprising basmati rice, mutton or chicken meat, onions, exotic spices, lemon, coriander, and saffron, this aromatic and fragrant dish is a heavenly cuisine that is liked by people of all ages.

Chicken 65: Another Indian dish that made it to the list is this classic poultry dish. It is made of deep-fried chicken that is marinated in lemon, ginger, red chillies, and a variety of spices.

Keema: On the 100th spot we have Keema. This stew or curry made with minced lamb or goat meat, potatoes, ginger, chilli, green peas, onions, garlic, garam masala, and ghee is best served with pav buns, naan, and other flatbreads. Some also use keema as a filling for samosas and parathas.

In this esteemed rating, the Colombian dish Lechona held the top slot. It is a traditional dish consisting of a whole roasted pig stuffed with yellow peas, green onions, fresh herbs, and spices.

According to TasteAtlas, Italy’s Pizza Napoletana, Brazil’s Picanha, Algeria’s Rechta, Thailand’s Phanaeng Curry, Argentina’s Asado, Turkey’s Cokertme Kebab, Indonesia’s Rawon, Turkey’s Cag Kebab, and Ethiopia’s Tibs were the top nine cuisines.
