Saumya Tandon shared a healthy sweet potato halwa recipe that does not include sugar or its substitutes.

Saumya Tandon revealed that she quit sugar and its substitutes four years ago.

Best known for her role as Anita Mishra in Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai, Saumya Tandon is super strict when it comes to her fitness regime. The actor stays dedicated to her diet and fitness and that is the secret to her wellness. In a recent video, the actor spoke about how she quit sugar four years ago and how it turned out to be a ‘game changer’ for her.

In a video posted by Saumya Tandon on her Instagram, the actor talked about how she quit not just sugar but also its substitutes like honey and jaggery. She talked about how she manages her sugar cravings by opting for naturally sweet items. She wrote, “I gave up sugar /all sugar substitutes, honey and jaggery 4 years ago. I only eat fruits and dry fruits and desserts made of them. It’s a game changer. Try! Will keep posting desserts without using sugar/honey/jaggery and make you all believe we can eat sweet without sugar too. Let me know what you think.”

While she spoke about how quitting sugar changed her life, she also shared an easy dessert recipe made out of sweet potatoes which is incredibly healthy. The dessert uses ghee which includes healthy fats and milk to add that dash of sweetness. Here’s how to make sweet potato halwa just like Saumya Tandon.

Step 1: Boil sweet potatoes in a pot of water.

Step 2: Once boiled, peel off the skin and mash it well with the help of a spoon.

Step 3: In a pan, heat a spoonful of desi ghee.

Step 4: Add in the mashed sweet potatoes and cook it well. Once browned, add some milk.

Step 5: Let the mixture cook for more and add in cashew, saffron, or pistachio.

Step 6: Serve hot.
