Despite a diverse filmography that includes a role in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse, and the DC franchise as Batman, Robert Pattinson remains closely associated with his breakout role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga.
During a recent interview with The New York Times, Pattinson shared an amusing encounter with a fan at an airport who seemed unaware of his career post-Twilight.
In regards to this, a fan asked, “Hey, you’re the guy from Twilight. Why’d you stop acting?” and Pattinson replied with a laugh, “I’m Batman?”
According to Deadline, Pattinson and Kristen Stewart starred as Edward Cullen and Bella Swan in the blockbuster five-film series based on Stephanie Meyer’s novels, which concluded with Breaking Dawn, Part 2 in 2012.
Despite this long-standing association, Pattinson has since built a reputation as a versatile actor, most notably in his critically acclaimed performance as Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ The Batman (2022).
Moreover, the actor is set to reprise his role in the Batman sequel, which Reeves intends to begin filming in 2025, as per the publication.
Additionally, the film is part of a planned trilogy, alongside the Penguin spin-off series on Max, which will explore the origin story of Gotham’s infamous crime boss, introduced as a mid-level gangster in The Batman.
Meanwhile, Reeves recently confirmed the trilogy’s development remains on track, describing his vision of interconnected stories featuring members of Batman’s Rogues Gallery, as per the outlet.
