It turns out that the pair had their Pelli Raata ritual prior to the traditional haldi ceremony. For those unfamiliar, Pelli Raata is a cherished Telugu tradition performed before the bride officially becomes a wife. During this ritual, the couple searches for a ring submerged in water-filled vessels, and the person who finds the ring first is believed to be the more dominant partner in the marriage.
